MCP Tools Reference
Every tool the Hypello MCP server gives AI assistants, what each one does, and whether it reads or changes your account.
The Hypello MCP server has 18 tools. Your AI assistant picks the right tool from your request, so you never call them by name. This page explains what each one does.
"Read" tools only look at your data. "Write" tools create or change something. No tool deletes anything.
Accounts and content

Automations

Automation types

Automation settings
The assistant can set the same options you see in the Hypello app:
- Trigger: any comment or message, or only ones containing your keywords (up to 30), plus words that never trigger it.
- DM: message text (up to 1,500 characters), an optional image and subtitle, and up to 3 link buttons.
- Public reply: reply to the comment publicly as well, rotating between at least 3 reply variations.
- Ask to Follow: ask people to follow you before they get the DM, with your own message and buttons.
- Opening message: send a short first message with a button, then the main DM after they tap it.
- Lead capture: ask for an email address or phone number, and choose whether to send the DM if they don't share it.
- Reply delay: wait a set number of seconds or minutes before replying, on plans that include it.

AI agents

list_agent_skills | Read | Lists an agent's skills, such as collecting customer details or transferring to your team. |
list_knowledge_sources | Read | Lists an agent's knowledge base and whether each source is processing, ready or failed. |
add_knowledge_source | Write | Adds a text, a FAQ entry or a website to an agent's knowledge. Learning from a whole website isn't available on every plan. File uploads are only available in the Hypello app. |
